Masungi Rock formation is Rizal’s own version of Sierra Nevada Mountains, (minus the snow) to say the least. Tanay folks also call it Palanas. It is a DENR-protected area ideal for mountain climbing. The place is perfect get away for mountain hikers who seek a mountain to conquer that is just doorstep away from Metro Manila. Camp sites are available at the base of the mountain for anyone who seek a much comfort means of accomodation.
Located at Sierra Madre Mountains, Barangay Cuyambay Tanay, Rizal, the peak of the mountain provides stunning panorama of surrounding municipalities around Tanay as well as the majestic view of Laguna Lake, the largest lake in the country and in a clear day, the towers of Manila from that height is clearly visible and is nothing short of breathtaking. Masungi rock formations covers hundreds of hectares of black limestone and is teeming with vegetation from trees, fauna, wild birds and animals.
